Challenges
Challenge 1 - Octopus Energy
Access to green careers and climate leadership is far from equal. Underrepresented communities - particularly Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups - often face barriers to entering the sustainability and energy sectors. How might we design digital tools or platforms that expand access to education, funding, mentorship or career pathways in these fields?
We’re looking for solutions that reimagine what “access” means whether that’s making opportunities more visible, connecting people with
networks and resources, or creating tools that other organisations can use to support diverse communities.
Challenge 2 - Her Third Spaces, sponsored by BCS
Cultivating Community & Activating Urban Spaces
In today's urban environment, genuine community 'third spaces' – welcoming, accessible places for people to gather, learn, and connect outside of home and work – are more crucial than ever. However, both groups seeking spaces for meaningful interaction and those with underutilised venues face significant friction. It's often hard to find the right fit, manage recurring use, or simply connect supply with demand.
The Challenge: How might we leverage technology to create innovative solutions that foster vibrant community connections by simplifying the discovery, accessibility, and management of suitable physical spaces within our cities?
Challenge 3 - Challenge 3 - HuddleHive & Clarify
Automate the Everyday
What’s something repetitive, mundane, or easy-to-forget in your daily life - and how might you automate it? Build a small tool, assistant, or prototype that saves you (or someone else) time, energy, or brainspace.
