Many patients rely on time-sensitive medication.
Missing a dose can reduce effectiveness or cause health complications.
However, traditional reminders like phone alarms or calendar notifications are often:
Overlooked among many notifications
Silenced or snoozed and forgotten
Difficult for older adults or less tech-savvy users
Β An AI-powered medication reminder system that calls or texts you β personally.
Instead of a generic alarm.
Users complete a simple form to set their medication reminders.
Users receive warm, conversational phone calls or SMS messages that feel like a helpful check-in rather than just a notification.
Frontend React JS β clean, simple form
Backend: Python FastAPI β seamless websocket connection
Communication Twilio β handles calls & SMS
AI Voice/Message Gemini LLM β generates warm, personalised messages
One challenge was setting up and integrating the Twilio and Gemini APIs. Implementing the WebSocket API and using port tunnelling to integrate Twilio with Gemini was quite challenging.
Another challenge was building a clear and simple solution within a limited timeframe, so we focused on delivering a working MVP first.
We learned how to configure a WebSocket server to bridge LLMs and Twilio for AI-assisted voice interactions.
